The mission of the Family Services Department is to provide patients and families support and education on the disease of addiction, cross addiction and the impact on the family. Our program is designed to assess your family's needs, educate you about chemical dependence and offers ongoing family support during and/or after the patient's treatment. Once a patient is admitted to TRC, a family counselor is assigned to respond to any questions/concerns you may have.
We understand this has been a very difficult and confusing time for a patient's family members. We believe the Family Program will begin to answer some of the questions you have about what needs to be done by the patient and family. The disease of addiction has significant physical, emotional and social consequences for the individual seeking treatment and for the family and significant others who have been impacted by the disease. We view family as an essential component of a patient's ongoing recovery program and seek to involve family members in the treatment and recovery process.
Our program consists of approximately five family sessions (via telephone or on campus for Atlanta area residents) and a four day family workshop held on campus during treatment. The family workshop is an educational and supportive experience. The workshop provides an education on the disease of addiction and cross addiction and offers an opportunity to address questions and concerns.

Because patients are encouraged to bond with their patient residential community members, visitors are allowed in the community only in special circumstances. For information about visitation and assistance with our visitation process, please talk with your family counselor.
